An Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME ) performs technical work at the skilled craftsman level , involving the repair, rebuilding, overhaul, maintenance, and servicing of aircraft operated by the Air Division. The role also includes mechanical repair and upkeep of accessories, hangars, base equipment, machinery, and ground support systems . In addition to hands-on technical responsibilities, an AME undertakes supervisory duties , including planning work details, assigning tasks, and supervising and inspecting the work of a small team. Instructions are provided through oral or written directives , and work is primarily reviewed based on final results , reflecting the high level of trust and responsibility associated with the role.
